C’mon lets Ride

Went for a bike ride today around Marietta on the River Trail path. I parked my vehicle along the levee (riverfront) and started my ride. I rode probably 6 miles as a guess. I saw a few pretty cool things!, and got a quick history lesson while doing it, as well as a little exercise! There was quite a bit to see on the ride, from checking out the WP Snyder Jr. Sternwheel, to a little group of ferrell cats that wouldn’t move out of the path, so I had to hit the grass! I forgot I had my phone so no pictures of these furry critters!!! Most of the path is shaded and lots of benches to stop and sit a spell! Further down the trail there is a skate board park and a tennis court. And if you plan it right, bring your swimsuit, and hit the waterpark at the end of the trail! The only traffic you will have to be concerned with is at the boat ramp at Indian acres, but that is very minimal, as it is out of main vehicle traffic areas. On your way back, by the Old’ no longer in service’ train bridge, there is a marina office that offers ice cream cones, and you can also rent bikes there. Or you can shoot over to front street, one block east and hit the Marietta Brewery for lunch or dinner, depending on what time you are riding! Oh yea, if you are like me, bring a spare DRY shirt! There are also a few other restaurants and shops on that street. They are about a half a mile from the riverfront where I parked! I hope you come try this little path out. A little insight on the pictures, first one shows the river gauge , which has been completely covered in 1913. One picture shows 4 or 5 poles next to a building, which indicates the water level of all the historic floods that hit Marietta .The picture of the statues of men is a carving honoring the pioneers that landed here in 1788, opening the gate of the Northwest Territory and move westward. The other memorial honors the people in our comminity that served in our nations wars!
